Help with OpenCalendar.
Most first questions are answered below or in the documentation. There is no support address to write to yet, and this page says so until there is one.
There is no support address yet. When there is a mailbox that a person reads, its address will be shown here. We would rather say so than print an address nobody answers.
Until then, help is the answers below and the documentation. Nothing about your data needs us: everything OpenCalendar keeps can be removed from inside the app, as the privacy policy sets out.
Never send anyone a scheduling link, your secret key or a key backup as a way of getting help. Whoever holds a link can read its page and busy times, and nobody needs your key to help you.
Problems people meet first
There is no button to connect Google or Outlook
That is expected for now. Both connections are built and are waiting for each company’s approval of the app. Settings says “This copy of OpenCalendar has not been registered” with the vendor until then. In the meantime you can follow a calendar address or open a calendar file.
Do I have to sign in with the button at the top right?
No. That is the optional account our apps share, and nothing in OpenCalendar is behind it. Your calendars, links and bookings are in this browser whether you sign in or not. It is not where a Google or Outlook calendar is connected (that is Settings, Accounts), and it is not the key people book you with (that is Settings, Your key). More about the account.
Microsoft says “needs admin approval”
Many organisations do not let people approve calendar access themselves. Send your IT administrator the page for IT administrators: it lists the single permission the app asks for and what it does with it. If the answer is no, you can still take part in a group link by publishing busy times from a calendar address or a file.
A calendar address will not load
The address must start with https: or webcal:, be reachable from the public internet, and return a calendar file. Addresses that need a password in the address are refused. A followed calendar is refreshed at most once an hour.
My link shows “calendar read” some time ago
A link’s busy times are as fresh as the last time your app was open. Open the app to publish them again. If your link confirms automatically only while your calendar was read recently, bookings made while the busy times are older than your limit arrive as requests for you to confirm.
I cleared my browser, or moved to a new one
Calendars, links, bookings and your key live in one browser, and we have no copy. On the new browser, import the calendar files you exported and use Settings, “Use a key I already have” with your encrypted key backup. Without the key, links made with it stop receiving bookings in the new browser.
A time looks wrong
Check the time zone in Settings, and the zone shown on the booking page. If a country changed its clock rules recently, the app is right only after it has been updated.
